Bike to Work Day Takes the Street

more photos here

CRBC had its biggest ever Bike to Work Day event May 19, closing the first block of Allen Street for a day-long festival. Highlights included:
- unveiling of the new CRBC bike rack which is to be placed on the sidewalk near Beaver Ave. and Allen.
-dedication and official opening of the
Bellefonte Central Rail Trail, and
- a complete "sellout" of the T-shirts which were given away to those who joined CRBC at the event. Over 150 signatures were gathered on a petition to lower the speed limit on the road where bicycle commuter Bohdan Kulakowsky was killed in March. CRBC president, Rick Gilmore said,"It was awesome to see Allen Street filled with bikes and riders of all shapes and sizes, with banners and posters, a bike blender, and all the rest." Read Rick's full report here Afterward, the cycling community listened to jazz by the Andrew Jackson quartet while the blenderbike saw some high cadence work mixing "bikeritas" for the BTW Day party at Tony's Big Easy.
