Bike Buddies - August 1, 2002
The Centre Region Bicycle Coalition, in cooperation with Rob Gentry, owner of the Recumbent Bike Riders (RBR) shop on South Atherton, and the Sight-Loss Support Group (238-0132), is sponsoring a "Bike Buddies" event on Thursday, August 1, 2002 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The event will provide visually impaired adults and the general public an opportunity to learn about and test-ride bicycles designed for more than one rider.

A short presentation about bicycle safety and multi-rider bicycles will be followed by test rides on upright and recumbent tandem bicycles offered by members of the CRBC. Participants will also have an opportunity to ride on a unique 7-person bike provided by collector Bob Swaim. Swaim's 7-person conference bike is one of only a handful in use in the U.S. The bike was created by an artist in Holland and made in Germany.

Light refreshments will be provided. Individuals who join the CRBC for $25 will receive a free pair of UV protective cycling glasses provided by RBR.

The Bike Buddies meeting will be held at the RBR shop at 1306 S. Atherton (234-4636). Contact Rick Gilmore (865-3664) or Paul and Jude Simpson (867-4266) for more information or to assist with the event.
