Warner Blvd Bicycle Detour

Please see the notes below on PennDOTs plans for Warner Blvd near Boalsburg. Detours, including one for cyclists, will start April 11. If you’re trying to access Linden Hall Rd, the best way will be using Old Boalsburg Rd from Lemont. Otherwise, be prepared to use RT 45 to approach Linden Hall from the East.

Warner Boulevard Project to Start next Week in Centre County

Detours will begin April 11

State College, PA – Next week the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin an improvement project on Route 3010 (Warner Boulevard) in Centre County. The project will rehabilitate the roadway and extend its service life, while also addressing some bike and pedestrian needs.

The project requires the temporary closure of the Route 322 eastbound on and off-ramps at the Oak Hall interchange. Westbound ramps will remain open. Access to Route 45 from the Oak Hall interchange will also be restricted. Detours for vehicles and bicycles will be in place starting April 11. Detours for motorists will run through May 26. Message boards are in place to alert drivers and cyclists to the detours. The following detours will be in place:

  • Traffic traveling on Warner Boulevard/Boalsburg Road wishing to travel east on Route 322 will need to travel west on Route 322 to the Route 26 exit and re-enter Route 322 eastbound. This detour is less than 3 miles long.
  • Eastbound traffic on Route 322 wishing to exit to Warner Boulevard will be re-routed to the Route 45 exit to Business 322. This detour is about 2.5 miles long.
  • Traffic on Route 322 wishing to access Route 45 from the Oak Hall exit will need to use the Old Fort exit instead.
  • For additional safety, a bicycle detour will be in place during the entire time of the project (through early October). The bicycle detour will route all bicycle traffic to Route 45 (Earlystown Road), Route 2006 (Linden Hall Road), and Route 2004 (Linden Hall Road) and then return to Warner Boulevard. This detour will be labeled Bike Route G Detour.

Overall work will include roadway restoration through base repair and paving, roadway drainage, traffic signal upgrades, guide rail replacement, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items. The project will also include improvements to the intersection profile at Mary Elizabeth Street and Brandywine Drive, and construction of a new 7-foot asphalt walkway and 5-foot designated bike lane from South Atherton Street to Linden Hall Road.

Drivers should be alert for a speed limit reduction on Warner Boulevard. The speed limit on Warner Boulevard will be reduced from 45mph to 35 mph during the project to calm traffic and enhance safety. PennDOT reminds drivers and cyclists to follow detour signs, use caution in work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.

Glenn O. Hawbaker of State College is the contractor on this $3 million project, which is expected to finish by early October. PennDOT will issue updates on this work as necessary. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
